Advantages Of Security Camera Systems
Crime Deterrence
The most obvious benefit of installing security cameras is their effect on people. Even if hidden, you will feel a sense of security, which is priceless. The mere sight of a camera and the thought of getting caught red-handed is usually enough for most people to be on their best behavior. Whether you’re problems are related to theft, punctuality, or productivity, your security cameras can provide you with the solutions.
Monitor Activities
Security cameras are extremely helpful as they enable you to monitor the activities of people visiting your home and office as well as the goings-on at these places. This is a great way to detect suspicious people and keep tabs on their activities.
Evidence Gathering
Modern security cameras are equipped with both high-quality video and audio. The clear images and sound makes them better than ever at recording a series of events. This is especially helpful when dealing with a legal scenario, where the eye witness may have forgotten an important detail or may be providing an inaccurate account of what really happened. With a security camera, the authorities can see the series of events as they really unfolded.
Arrive at the Right Decisions
Footage from security cameras can help you make correct and fair decisions when settling disputes, both in domestic as well as professional scenarios. Whether it is dealing with a situation involving disagreements within your family, among your employees, or between a customer and your service staff, your doubts can be laid to rest with the help of your camera. Incorrect, inappropriate or fabricated claims made by customers or other authorities can be easily sorted out when you make your security camera your ally.
Record Keeping
If something happened outside your home or office and you’re curious to find more information you can simply look it up in your security records. Cameras record and document everything they see. Whether it is a major crime or a minor inconvenience, your camera records it, making it easy for you to investigate later on.

Save on Homeowners Insurance
Security cameras can keep more than your property safe – for some homeowners, it can also mean major savings on homeowners insurance. Some of the most popular insurance providers in the United States offer this benefit. Research has shown that properties monitored by security cameras are 300 times less likely to be burglarized than those without, so in turn, fewer of these homeowners will need to file claims for loss or damages. The type of equipment installed in the home is the most important indicator, but geographical location, home size and other policy agreements can also affect this number. According to MSN Money, companies usually offer homeowners insurance discounts of between five and 20 percent to protected clients.
Software Features
Each system can support up to 64 cameras simultaneously. The camera software can record constantly or only on motion or audio detection, masking can be added to block license plates, keypads, and more to keep your valuable information safe.
Overlay the current date/time as well as a logo or other information on a per camera basis. Use a timer to determine when the system is armed. All passwords for the camera software are encrypted. You can connect to your camera software from any remote computer over the internet using the built-in web server.
The camera software runs on Microsoft Windows computers and the cameras can be accessed independently from any compatible web browser or from iPhone and Android mobile devices using specialized apps.
Depending on the quality setting of the recordings a 1TB hard drive will hold anywhere from 8 days to several months worth of non-stop footage. The software can be set to erase the oldest footage and continue recording new footage so there is never “down-time” on the cameras. If you need a more permanent storage option the recorded video can also be exported as a standard video format and copied to portable hard drives, flash drives, or burned directly to CD/DVD utilizing your favorite programs.
Camera Features
Cameras are available for both indoor and outdoor use and infrared night vision is also available at ranges up to 150 meters. On models with pan, tilt, and zoom capabilities you can set it to “patrol” an area or move the camera to a specific area, you can also zoom in to get a better view with magnifications available up to 30x with both manual and automatic focus.
Most cameras can send both a 720P/1080P high definition and a low quality stream at the same time. This is useful if you want to record the high quality stream but only need to live view the low quality stream over slower networks such as on a mobile device.
Modern cameras also have audio capability. Almost all have microphones to record audio at the source but some even have the ability to connect a speaker to use the system as an intercom or otherwise communicate with whoever may be at the camera’s location.
Most cameras can be powered by a standard DC power adapter or can be powered over the same ethernet cable that carries the data signal using a special power injector.
