It seems the marines are the underpowered ones in this game. Might just be me though
It's difficult to tell. We'll just have to see once the game is released. Of course, if you ask anyone around here with the exception of myself and only a few others all Marines are pansies. Most people here are hardcore bug lovers. I hope the marines kick some serious ass.
Well, I kind of feel like they should be, they are only humans after all. And thats what makes practicing your skill/aim/etc the challenging part. But I feel its fair because each species has their disadvantages.

Yes but think about it. Humans get what, all we've seen is standard issue guns and maybe turrets. Aliens can crawl through vents and harvest humans and do wallclimbing crazy acrobatic crap, and Predators can jump in whenever they want or just watch and laugh in cloak.
Just like previous AvP games, you are provided with a shit load of guns to choose from. And just like those previous games, the further you advance into the game the stronger and damaging weapons are introduced.
In all honesty, I think its the Aliens who have the biggest disadvantage. Because unlike the Predator and Marine who have far shooting weapons, the Alien has none. As an Alien, you need to get close and quickly attack before you are shot at. (unless you're a blade attacking Predator) And with weapons like the Marines Pulse and the Predator's Shoulder Cannon, you HAVE to make sure your hits (whether they be claws, bites, or tail whip) are accurate enough to damage or kill. Otherwise, you run the risk of being killed instantly by any of their strong, quick, and far shooting weapons. And even then the Alien is still at a disadvantage because unless your prey is already severely injured, clawing/tail whipping usually isn't enough to do heavy damage to kill them. You'd need to quickly and accurately head bite them in order to get a "head shot".
The biggest disadvantage for the Alien is it has no medi aside from the head bite. If you're playing 1v1 its even harder, especially if you're doing damage but your prey continues to run off and heals themself. You continue to take damage yourself but have no way to restore it unless you kill them and head bite. At least thats how it was with previous games.
The only bug feature that might offset the use of ranged weapons is the improvement of the bug vision. Knowing the location of the enemy through walls could prove to be a huge help. But you're right...bug always plays from behind imo.
